Jonglei-GPAA Area Strategy

This proposal draws on discussions with communities, state government and local partners over the last five years, including the lessons of design from phase 1 of the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund (POF), the two phases of Reconciliation, Stabilisation and Resilience Trust Fund (RSRTF) projects in Jonglei-GPAA, and quarterly learning workshops of the Area Reference Group since early 2021. This paper presents what we believe to be a coherent and credible pathway for a strategy over the next five years that builds on incremental steps forward, and community relationships that have been established over these last years.

A draft discussion paper informed discussion at a meeting in Juba, 13-14 March 2025, which included County Commissioners (or delegates) from the 11 bordering counties, representatives from the Jonglei State Government and GPAA Authorities. Area-based partners were also present. The meeting focussed on discussion at the level of principles, under each thematic lens and in relation to budgeting.
